Armand Isard is a human intelligence chief who exists in both continuities. In current canon, named in James Luceno's Tarkin (Del Rey, 2014), he directed the Senate Bureau of Intelligence during the Republic era and the Clone Wars, joined Palpatine's inner circle when the Empire was declared, became Director of COMPNOR, and sat on the Joint Chiefs of the Imperial Military. The historian Beaumont Kin later recorded that his correspondence with Grand Moff Tarkin survived only as a gap in the purged COMPNOR archive.

In Star Wars Legends he is remembered for how he ended. He preceded his daughter Ysanne as Director of Imperial Intelligence, and when one of her operations failed she accused him of the treason, secured his execution and took his post. Canon has kept the man and dropped the murder.
