Ciddarin "Cid" Scaleback is a Trandoshan smuggler and fixer who runs a parlour on Ord Mantell, introduced in Star Wars: The Bad Batch in 2021. StarWars.com describes a career pivot rather than a character type: "Her numerous contacts once made her a valuable informant for the Jedi, but since the rise of the Empire Cid has turned her attention toward more profitable assignments while keeping her past concealed."

The employer

She keeps Clone Force 99 in work — dangerous, badly paid, mostly illegal jobs that fund her bar and, incidentally, keep a squad of deserting clones alive. The relationship is transactional in a way the show refuses to soften: Cid is not a mother figure, she is a broker with leverage over people who cannot go to anyone else.

What she represents

The early Imperial years are usually shown through soldiers and senators. Cid shows the same period from the position of a small operator: the Republic's informant network collapsed, its debts went unpaid, and the people who used to supply it went into business for themselves. It is a quietly convincing account of how an underworld absorbs a fallen state.

The betrayal

She eventually sells the Batch out, which surprises nobody who was paying attention and is nonetheless played as a real loss — because the show had let the audience mistake a working relationship for a family for two seasons, exactly as the characters did.
