Gara Petothel is an Imperial intelligence agent who penetrates Wraith Squadron under an assumed identity in Aaron Allston’s X-Wing novels, and whose plot becomes the most sustained argument the series makes about whether a person can be somebody else long enough to become them.
She is the mirror image of Face Loran — both are professional performers, both have been used by the Empire, and only one of them was ever asked whether she wanted the job. The Wraith books run their deception plots as comedy and then charge for them, and Petothel is where the bill arrives.
