Huyang is a Mark IV architect droid who instructs Jedi younglings in lightsaber construction aboard the Order's training cruiser. He is introduced in the fifth season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2012) and voiced by David Tennant.
The character's function is chronological. Huyang has been doing this job for something on the order of twenty-five thousand years, which makes him a living index of the Order — he remembers the crystals, the hilts and the hands of Jedi who died millennia before the Republic's current constitution was written.
He returns in Ahsoka (2023) as Ahsoka Tano's shipboard companion, which lands the point the character was built for: the Order is gone, its archives are ash, and the last piece of institutional memory left standing is a droid who was never Force-sensitive at all.
