Kirana Ti is a human woman of the Singing Mountain Clan on Dathomir, introduced in Dave Wolverton's The Courtship of Princess Leia (Bantam, 1994) and later one of the first intake at Luke Skywalker's Jedi praxeum on Yavin 4.
She matters because of what she brings with her. The Dathomiri witches had their own Force tradition — spells, clans, rancor-riding, a matriarchy with rules the Jedi never wrote — and Kirana Ti does not abandon it on arrival. Legends used her as the standing proof that the Force had been practised for centuries by people the Jedi Order never catalogued, which is an idea current canon has since built the Nightsisters and much else on top of.
