Rhil Dairo is a human reporter for the news service GoNet, introduced by Cavan Scott in The Rising Storm (2021). Chancellor Lina Soh personally asked her to cover the Republic Fair on Valo; she works with a cam droid designated T-9.
When the Nihil attack the Fair, Dairo is the reason the rest of the galaxy finds out — she gets the story off Valo and past the Outer Rim. She is then captured and forced to produce propaganda broadcasts glorifying the people who did it. Star Wars rarely puts a working journalist at the centre of a battle scene, and the inversion — the same skill used first to expose an atrocity and then to sell it — is one of the sharper ideas in Phase I.
