Ty Yorrick is a Tholothian monster hunter and saber-for-hire, created by Cavan Scott. She debuted simultaneously on 29 June 2021 in Scott's The Rising Storm and Daniel José Older's junior novel Race to Crashpoint Tower — a coordination trick the initiative used repeatedly, and one of the reasons its release schedule reads like a puzzle.
The Jedi who left
Yorrick trained as a Padawan under the Azumel Jedi Master Cibaba and walked away. The High Republic is unusual among Star Wars eras in that leaving is treated as a live option rather than a fall — the Wayseekers do it formally, Cohmac Vitus drifts into it, and Yorrick simply goes. She takes the lightsaber with her and bills by the job.
Valo
She reaches the Republic Fair on Valo as private security and ends up in the middle of the largest Nihil atrocity of Phase I. Her presence is the era's way of showing the frontier from outside the Order's own accounting: a professional who deals with the things the Republic's expansion disturbs, and who is not paid in gratitude.
