Dorsk 81 is the eighty-first clone in a line of identical Khommites, from a world where cloning has replaced reproduction and every generation is meant to do exactly what the last one did. He arrives at the Jedi praxeum in Dark Apprentice (Bantam, 1994) as the first genetic deviation in his line: a Force-sensitive who left.

The premise is better than most of what the Bantam era did with its minor Jedi, because it puts a real cost on the character. Going to Yavin 4 is not an adventure for him, it is apostasy, and his homeworld treats him accordingly. He dies defending the academy from an Imperial fleet, having channelled more of the Force than his body could carry — an ending that Legends, characteristically, later complicated with a successor clone, Dorsk 82.
