Elzar Mann is a human male Jedi Master of the High Republic era, introduced in The High Republic: Light of the Jedi (Del Rey, 2021). His homeworld has not been established in the published material.
The improviser
Where Avar Kriss is disciplined and Stellan Gios is institutional, Elzar is instinctive — he reaches for the Force first and justifies it afterwards, and the books are quietly clear that this is both why he is extraordinary and why he is dangerous. He is also written as a person with appetites, which the Order's culture has no comfortable place for.
Visions
His running arc is prophecy. He sees the era's catastrophe before it happens, in fragments he cannot interpret and cannot act on, and the strain of that pushes him into practices the Council would not sanction. It is the same argument Master & Apprentice makes two centuries later about Qui-Gon Jinn — whether foresight is knowledge or temptation — and the High Republic books answer it much less gently.
Canon only
Elzar postdates the 2014 reset entirely; there is no Legends counterpart.
Reading note
The friendship among Elzar, Avar Kriss and Stellan Gios is the emotional core of the whole initiative. Read the three dossiers together and then read the novels in publication order — the initiative is designed to be read that way rather than chronologically.
