Ochi is a Sith assassin and Jedi hunter from the planet Bestoon whose career runs from the last years of the Republic through the Empire and into the New Republic era. He is introduced in The Rise of Skywalker (2019) and developed considerably in the comics and in Adam Christopher's novel Shadow of the Sith (Del Rey, 2022).
The dagger
In the film he is largely a prop: a corpse in the sands of Pasaana, a ship, and an inscribed Sith dagger that turns out to be a map. His actual significance is that he is the man Palpatine sent after Rey's parents, which makes a minor hired killer the reason the sequel trilogy's protagonist grew up alone on Jakku.
Species not established
The reference material records him as being from Bestoon but does not fix his species, and this dossier leaves the field blank rather than infer one from the make-up. That is a real gap in a character who has appeared across a film, a novel and several comics.
A working assassin, not an apprentice
Worth stating plainly for a Sith catalogue: Ochi is not part of any Rule of Two lineage and holds no Sith title in the doctrinal sense. He is a Force-adjacent professional killer who works for the Sith Eternal — closer to a contractor than a disciple, which is why the Empire could point him at Darth Vader himself when it suited Palpatine.

Canon. Ochi was created for the 2019 film; there is no Legends equivalent.
