Rune Haako is the Neimoidian aide who stands at Nute Gunray's shoulder through the Naboo crisis and the Clone Wars. He appears in The Phantom Menace (1999), Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005), and is killed with the rest of the Separatist Council on Mustafar.
He exists to make Gunray's fear audible — the pair function as a double act in which one man says the frightened thing out loud and the other pretends not to have thought it.
