Streen is a human tibanna gas prospector from Bespin, recruited by Luke Skywalker in Jedi Search (Bantam, 1994). Untrained Force empathy meant he could not be around other people without hearing them, so he had spent years alone in the clouds, reading gas eruptions better than the instruments could.
He is the Jedi Academy Trilogy's most economical piece of worldbuilding: a demonstration that after the Purge, Force-sensitivity did not disappear, it just went undiagnosed. There was no Order left to find these people, so they became eccentric hermits with unusually good instincts, and Luke's first intake is largely made up of them.
