The High Republic: Light of the Jedi (Charles Soule, 2021)

Stellan Gios is a human male Jedi Master of the High Republic era, introduced in The High Republic: Light of the Jedi (Del Rey, 2021). His homeworld has not been established in the published material.

The institutional Jedi

Stellan is the one who believes in the Order as an institution — its structures, its public role, its confidence. He rises quickly, is trusted absolutely, and becomes the Jedi the Republic points at when it wants to reassure itself. The books use him to test whether that confidence was ever load-bearing or merely well-presented.

The Fallen Star

Claudia Gray's The High Republic: The Fallen Star (Del Rey, 2022) is the initiative's disaster novel and Stellan is at the centre of it. Without spoiling the mechanics: the book is constructed so that the era's most reliable Jedi is placed in a situation where reliability is not enough, and it is the single hardest turn the High Republic programme has taken.

Canon only

Like the rest of the High Republic cast, Stellan is a post-2014 creation with no Legends counterpart.

Reading note

Read The Fallen Star after Light of the Jedi and The Rising Storm, not before. It is engineered to punish a reader who has become comfortable, and it only works if you have had time to get comfortable.
