Breha Organa is the Queen of Alderaan, wife of Bail Organa and adoptive mother of Leia. The StarWars.com Databank identifies her as head of Alderaan's Royal Family and the planet's Minister of Education, and notes that she "mentors students on Alderaan, including the X-wing pilot Evaan Verlaine." She first appears, without dialogue, at the close of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith (2005).
The division of labour
Bail runs the conspiracy; Breha runs the planet. That split is the most interesting thing about the Organa household, and it is why Leia arrives in A New Hope already fluent in both registers — able to command a warship and to hold a throne room. The senator taught her one; the queen taught her the other.
Claudia Gray made her a character
Leia, Princess of Alderaan (2017) is where Breha stops being a silhouette. The novel gives her a specific parenting philosophy — a formal rite of passage her daughter must complete, an insistence on competence over affection — and a marriage in which she is unmistakably the senior partner at home.
Alderaan
She dies with the planet in A New Hope, unnamed and unshown. Every subsequent appearance is a prequel to an off-screen death, which gives even her lightest scenes a weight the writers have generally been careful with rather than sentimental about.
