Horton Salm is a human male general of the New Republic and a bomber commander in Michael A. Stackpole’s X-Wing novels, where he leads a Y-wing group operating alongside — and frequently in friction with — Rogue Squadron. The rivalry is a running feature of the early books: heavy, slow, unglamorous ordnance work set against the fighter pilots who get the headlines.

He is also one of three senior officers nominated to judge Tycho Celchu’s trial for treason and murder in 7 ABY, with Admiral Ackbar and General Crix Madine — a panel chosen precisely because none of the three could be accused of partiality toward the Rogues.
