Sskeer is a Trandoshan Jedi Master, created by Cavan Scott for Marvel's The High Republic comic after Scott saw early Phil Noto concept art featuring a Trandoshan. He is named in Light of the Jedi and carries the comic from its first issue as the master of Keeve Trennis.
The Battle of Kur
Around 232 BBY Sskeer fights at Kur under his friend Jora Malli against the Nihil, and comes out of it having lost his left arm and her. The physical injury is the least of it: the trauma begins to sever his connection to the Force, an affliction he conceals from everyone including — for a long time — himself.
Why the arc works
Scott has said the series clicked when he realised Sskeer should be Trennis's master, which put the tragedy at the emotional centre of the book rather than beside it. A Jedi who is losing the Force is not a common story, and the comic treats it with an unusual amount of patience — as illness, with denial, rage and lucid intervals, rather than as a curse to be broken.
