Vodo-Siosk Baas is a Krevaaki Jedi Master — a many-limbed, chitin-shelled being from Krevas — who fights with a quarterstaff rather than a lightsaber and teaches on Dantooine. His students include Exar Kun, Sylvar, Crado and, briefly, Nomi Sunrider.
He first appeared as a holocron gatekeeper in Kevin J. Anderson's Dark Apprentice (July 1994) and in person a month later in the Freedon Nadd Uprising comics. His arc is the oldest teaching tragedy there is: he warns Kun about his anger in the first issue he speaks, Kun tells him that only he knows what he can do, and Baas dies on Coruscant in 3996 BBY at the hands of the student he could not reach. His spirit returns in Champions of the Force to finish the job four thousand years later.
