Karyn Faro is a human Imperial officer, second-in-command to Grand Admiral Thrawn aboard the Star Destroyer Chimaera, created by Timothy Zahn for Thrawn (Del Rey, 2017). She occupies the role that Pellaeon holds in the Legends trilogy — the sceptical professional through whom the reader watches Thrawn work — and she is promoted from commander to commodore across the three books.
She fights the Grysks, commands the Chimaera in the engagement that exposes Grand Admiral Savit's treason, and is recommended by Thrawn for the Eleventh Fleet rather than the task force she had been promised. She was preparing to take up that command when the Chimaera was pulled into hyperspace by purrgil over Lothal, and current canon has not said where she was standing when it happened.
