Meetra Surik is the player character of Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, known throughout that game only as the Exile. She followed Revan into the Mandalorian Wars against the Council's orders, rose to Jedi Knight and Republic general, and was present at Malachor V when the Mass Shadow Generator was detonated — after which she severed her own connection to the Force and returned to face the Council alone.
A wound in the Force
The premise is the reverse of every other Jedi story: she does not have powers and has to get them back, and the mechanism is other people. Surik forms Force bonds with everyone she travels with, which is precisely the attachment the Order forbids, and it is the only reason she recovers. Kreia spends the game pointing this out and being unsettling about it.
The name and the gender
Because the player could build her either way, the Exile had no fixed identity for seven years. Drew Karpyshyn's The Old Republic: Revan (Del Rey, 2011) settled it: Meetra Surik, female, who goes to Dromund Kaas with Revan to confront the Sith Emperor and is killed there in 3950 BBY. Whether a novel should be allowed to settle that is a question Star Wars fandom has never stopped arguing about.

The 2004 game, and Revan for the ending. Her informal teachers, by the reckoning of the Legends sources, include Vima Sunrider — another thread tying the games back to Tales of the Jedi.
