Rohlan Dyre is a human Mandalorian Crusader and former commander who fought in the opening skirmishes of the Mandalorian Wars and then walked away from them repeatedly — not out of cowardice but because he wanted an answer to why the war was being fought at all. His people called him the Questioner.

After the battle of Vanquo in 3964 BBY he deserted again and fell in with Zayne Carrick, Marn Hierogryph and the crew of The Last Resort, initially to help rescue Jarael from the Mandalorian scientist Demagol, who was experimenting on captured Jedi. John Jackson Miller has said the name was partly inspired by Roland, the paladin of Charlemagne.
