Sy Snootles is a Pa'lowick singer from Lowick, lead vocalist of the Max Rebo Band in Jabba the Hutt's palace in Return of the Jedi (1983). Originally a puppet performing "Lapti Nek", she was replaced by a digital model for the 1997 Special Edition's "Jedi Rocks" sequence, a change that remains among the least popular of the Special Edition alterations. Star Wars: The Clone Wars then did something unexpected with her: the fourth-season episode "Hunt for Ziro" reveals she was the lover of Ziro the Hutt, and has her shoot him dead to recover a holodiary for Jabba — retroactively making the cabaret singer in the background of the palace a killer who has been working for the Hutt all along.
