Nawara Ven is a male Twi’lek starfighter pilot and attorney who serves as executive officer of Rogue Squadron in Michael A. Stackpole’s X-Wing novels. He is a barrister by training and a fighter pilot by choice, and the series eventually requires both qualifications at once.
When Tycho Celchu is charged in 7 ABY with treason against the New Republic and the murder of Corran Horn, it is Ven who defends him — against a prosecution led by the Alderaanian advocate Halla Ettyk and assisted by the ex-CorSec investigator Iella Wessiri, before a panel of Admiral Ackbar and Generals Horton Salm and Crix Madine.
The courtroom sequence in The Krytos Trap is the most unusual thing in the X-Wing series, and Ven is its centre: a squadron officer obliged to cross-examine his own colleagues, in a proceeding where the government would very much prefer a conviction. It is also one of the few times mainstream Star Wars fiction has argued that legal process is worth defending on its own terms rather than as an obstacle for heroes to route around.
Nawara Ven is Star Wars Legends. His species is stated here because it is documented; his homeworld is not, and is therefore left blank.
