Voice Translation In Development

A language barrier shouldn't end a service call.

Bluefrog is developing AI voice translation so a customer and an employee can hold one conversation in two languages — engineered as part of the same voice pipeline that already produces transcripts, summaries, intent, evaluation and CRM records. Not a bolt-on gadget. Part of the system.

This page describes technology under active development. It is not a released product, and no performance characteristics are being claimed.

The Round Trip

Both directions, or it isn't a conversation.

Translating the customer into English solves half the problem. The employee has to be understood too — which makes this a round-trip engineering problem, not a transcription one.

Spanish ↔ English round trip. Concept diagram — technology in development.

Today, a business that can't serve a caller in their language does one of three things: puts them on hold to find a bilingual employee, asks them to call back, or loses them. None of those are operational decisions anyone chose — they're the default that happens when the technology isn't there.

What we're building is a round trip. Customer audio is captured, understood and rendered for the employee. The employee's response goes back the other way. The call stays a single continuous conversation instead of two parallel monologues, and the business keeps the customer it already paid to acquire through paid media and search.

The hard parts are not the translation model. They are turn-taking, interruption, latency budgets across a live audio path, business-specific vocabulary, phone-quality audio, disclosure to both parties, and what happens when confidence drops mid-sentence. Those are integration and systems problems, which is the work Bluefrog has done since 1997.

One Connected Voice System

Translation is a stage in the pipeline — not a separate product.

A standalone translation app leaves you with a call nobody can report on. Inside the Bluefrog Intelligence Platform, a translated call produces exactly the same operational output as any other call.

REVENUE ANALYSIS

This is the difference between a feature and a system. If translation lives in its own app, a Spanish-language call is invisible to the business: no summary, no intent, no bookability judgment, no rubric score, no CRM note, no revenue attribution. A whole segment of your customers becomes a blind spot in your reporting — usually the segment management is least able to see into already.

Because translation sits inside the voice pipeline, the downstream stages don't change. Call analysis still produces the summary and the intent. Rubric evaluation still scores how the conversation was handled against your standards. Booking detection still separates the opportunity from the outcome. The record still lands in ServiceTitan or your CRM, and still reaches revenue intelligence alongside every other call.

Engineering Problems In Development

The parts that are actually hard.

Translation quality is one variable. A usable live call is a whole system.

Audio Path

Capturing, routing and re-injecting audio on real phone infrastructure without degrading the call or breaking recording, tracking and compliance.

Turn-Taking

People interrupt, talk over each other and trail off. Deciding when a turn has ended is a harder problem than translating the words in it.

Business Vocabulary

Equipment names, part numbers, service plans, addresses and brand terms that generic models mangle and a service business cannot afford to get wrong.

Confidence & Fallback

What the system does when it isn't sure: repeat, clarify, or hand off to a bilingual employee. Failure behavior is a design decision, not an afterthought.

Disclosure & Consent

Both parties should know AI assistance is on the call, handled inside existing call recording and consent practices rather than around them.

Downstream Fidelity

Keeping the original utterance alongside the translation so summaries, intent and evaluation are auditable back to what the customer actually said.

Status

What we will and won't tell you.

Voice translation is in development at Bluefrog. We are not publishing supported language lists, latency figures or accuracy rates, because publishing numbers for technology that is still being engineered is how software companies lose credibility. When there is something measurable to report, we will report it and say how it was measured.

What is already real is the pipeline this attaches to. Transcription, summaries, intent, categorization, bookability, booking detection, rubric evaluation and CRM integration are shipping capabilities of the Bluefrog Intelligence Platform today. Translation is being built into that architecture rather than beside it.

If serving non-English-speaking customers is a live problem in your operation — and in home services it usually is — tell us how calls reach you now and what happens when nobody bilingual is available. That conversation shapes what gets built, and it's the same conversation that starts every custom AI development engagement here.
